Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually. And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues. (NKJV) 1 Corinthians 12:27-28

IRISH / GAEILGE

Anois is sibhse corp Chríost, agus baill aonair. Agus d’ordaigh Dia iad seo san eaglais: na haspail ar dtús, an dara fáithe, an tríú múinteoirí, ina dhiaidh sin míorúiltí, ansin bronntanais leighis, cuidíonn, riaracháin, cineálacha teanga. (NKJV) 1 Corantaigh 12:27-28

SWAHILI / KISWAHILI

(NKJV) 1 Wakorintho 12:27-28

GERMAN / DEUTSCH

You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. (NKJV) Matthew 5:13

IRISH / GAEILGE

Is tusa salann an domhain; ach má chailleann an salann a bhlas, conas a dhéanfar é a bhlaistiú? Ní maith an rud é ansin ach fir a chaitheamh amach agus a shatailt faoi chois. (NKJV) Matha 5:13

You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. (NKJV) Matthew 5:14-16

IRISH / GAEILGE

Is tú solas an domhain. Ní féidir cathair atá suite ar chnoc a chur i bhfolach. Ní lasann siad lampa agus ní chuireann siad faoi chiseán é, ach ar sheastán coinnle, agus tugann sé solas do gach duine atá sa teach. Go lonródh bhur solas mar sin os comhair fir, ionas go bhfeicfidh siad bhur ndea-oibreacha agus go dtabharfaidh siad glóir do bhur nAthair atá ar neamh. (NKJV) Matha 5:14-16

SWAHILI / KISWAHILI

(NKJV) Mathayo 5:14-16

GERMAN / DEUTSCH

DAILY SCRIPTURE – MATTHEW 6:26-30

master - daily Scripture Bible

ENGLISH / BÉARLA / ΑΓΓΛΙΚΑ / אנגלית / WAMAREKANI / АНГЛИЙСКИЙ / ENGLISCH / ANGLAISE / INGLES

Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life? And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? (NTV) Matthew 6:26-30

IRISH / GAEILGE

Féach ar éin an aeir; ní chuireann siad ná sroicheann siad nó ní stórálann siad i sciobóil, agus fós féin cothaíonn bhur nAthair neamhaí iad. Nach bhfuil tú i bhfad níos luachmhaire ná iad? An féidir le haon duine agaibh, de bharr buartha, uair an chloig amháin a chur le do shaol? Agus cén fáth a bhfuil imní ort faoi éadaí? Féach mar a fhásann bláthanna na páirce. Ní dhéanann siad saothair ná casadh. Ach deirim libh nach fiú Solamh ina ghlórsa go léir gléasadh mar cheann díobh seo. Más mar sin a théigheann Dia féir na machaire, atá anseo inniu agus a chaitear amárach sa tine é, nach mó go n-éadóidh sé sibh – sibhse ar bheagán creidimh? (NKJV) Matha 6:26-30

SWAHILI / KISWAHILI

(NKJV) Mathayo 6:26-30

GERMAN / DEUTSCH

(NTV) Filipenses 4:8

THE BLURB

How many disasters can one Christmas holiday survive.

It all started with old wiring and a fire.

The Elliott family had always enjoyed gatherings with extended family and friends. Especially at Christmas. They had discovered Blue Mountain Chalet, near Asheville, North Carolina; it became their venue of choice, and had hosted their crowd the past three years.

Until the wiring in the hundred-year-old inn sparked a fire, destroying much of the beloved inn. And two weeks before Christmas, too.

With no venue, it seemed their fledgling holiday tradition was a bust. Until Gigi called on a friend who ran a B&B at Heron Cove. All systems were go and their holiday was rescheduled for the last week of January.

Until eighty-four-year-old Gigi had a stroke. On New Years Day. But with Gigi’s free spirit, and three weeks of recovery and therapy, and all systems were go. Again.

One disaster follows another as the family and friends gather to celebrate Christ’s birth. But even with a lost aunt and uncle, muddy dogs, a jellyfish sting, and dogs eating the turkey, there is joy and peace and laughter at Blue Heron Inn. And love. Lots of love.

NOTE: There is a brief episode of racism in this story that might be offensive to some readers.

THE AUTHOR

“I’ve always had voices—er, stories in my head. I once said I should write them all down so someone could write them someday. I had no idea at the time that someone was me!”

110122 - rem profile picMy characters struggle in some way for their identity. Their stories are their journey to know who God created them to be.

There is also a strong element of friends, family, and faith in all my stories, and the difference it makes to have such a support system.

I am a Christian and write from a Christian world view, but some of my characters are not believers and therefore do not abide by the Bible and the guidelines for life that we take for granted. My books contain some mild swear language in a few places—and demonstrate the difference when the grace of God prevails.

  • unsavory heritage series—seven generations, from Cissy to Connie, each with their own secrets, one of which is ugly and unsavory, and initiates the curse they all bear
  • Seasons series—four friends, each one struggling to know the truth of just what happened when one of them plunged into the depths of the black waters of the Edisto River
  • FourSquare – Four stories about four couples who also happen to be four sets of twins.
