TUESDAY REVIEWS-DAY – TRIPLE BOOK REVIEW – THE SECRET SISTERS CLUB by MONIQUE BUCHEGER
THE BLURB
Twelve-year-old BFF’s Ginnie West and Tillie Taylor, want to be sisters. Ginnie’s widowed dad plus Tillie’s divorced mom could equal a lifetime of round-the-clock girl talk and slumber parties. Too bad Dad vowed to never marry again. Ginnie and Tillie come up with the perfect scheme to change his mind: ‘Operation Secret Sisters’ (aka OSS). After all, if they can’t get Dad to move on, Tillie can’t move in.
THE AUTHOR
When Monique isn’t writing, you can find her playing taxi driver to one or more of her 12 children, plotting her next novel, scrapbooking, or being the “Mamarazzi” at any number of child-oriented events.
Even though she realizes there will never be enough hours in any given day, Monique tries very hard to enjoy the journey that is her life. She shares it with a terrific husband, her dozen children and 3 in-law kids, eleven granddarlings, 5 cats, and many real and imaginary friends.
She is the author of five published books (and several unpublished ones) and is in two anthologies. You can find more about Monique and her works at: www.moniquebucheger.blogspot.com
MY REVIEW
Ms. Bucheger understands twelve-year-old girls so well you might think she is one!
I absolutely fell in love with Ginnie and Tillie. As a granny with both fourteen-year-old and ten-year-old granddaughters, I can testify to the authenticity of the characters!
This story is filled with so many things this reader loves and/or understands—the bond of friendship, horses, adventure, loads of fun, and most of all family. Extended family. And the nicknames!! Such a personal touch—that kind of sealed this story for me.
Ms. Bucheger not only “gets’ pre-teen girls, but she tells a colorful story, pulling the reader right into the hen house looking for eggs, or on Calliope racing down the lane. I felt Ginnie’s longing, and Tillie’s angst.
I loved this story so much I did something I don’t normally (get to) do—I read all three stories in the series back to back—and am looking forward to Book 4, Being West is Best.

I received a complimentary copy of this book, but was under no obligation to read the book or to post a review. I offer my review of my own free will. The opinions expressed in my review are my honest thoughts and reaction to this book.
Thank you for hosting The Secret Sisters Club on your blog. I love that you love Ginnie and Tillie so much! They are fun to write. This series is a labor of love for me. I’m curious which nicknames you love the most–Trouble and Turtle are fun–but I suspect you might also be referring to Queenie’s pet names for her family members. On a side note, Tallulah Hollywood is in homage to a foster daughter I wanted to adopt–she had the most impish personality. She and her twin brother were placed with another family –much to my disappointment at the time–but both children are cherished by their new parents–so it all worked out. 🙂
