SPECIAL EDITION – ROBIN’S NEST on HIATUS

“My world came to an end the day I jumped off the top of Versailles.”

“I’ve always had voices—er, stories in my head. I once said I should write them all down so someone could write them someday. I had no idea at the time that someone was me!”

Ya’ll, I.just.can’t. I’m so far behind and things are slipping through my fingers. Except for Front Porch Fellowship on Sundays, Robin’s Nest will be silent for the month of April. I mean, #TheWhisperingWindsofSpring releases in May and ya’ll want a book when it does, right…..

BLOGWORDS – Sunday 8 April 2018 – FRONT PORCH FELLOWSHIP – ALL THE THINGS (repost)

FRONT PORCH FELLOWSHIP – ALL THE THINGS

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. – Phillipians 4:13

I used to think this meant I had to do ALL | THE | THINGS.

It does not. It means I can do the things He asks me to do.

Which is a lot of words to say, I’ve learned to say, “No.”

Which is why the blog is on hiatus for the month of April.

So it’s really Father telling me to write first and then blog second. ‘cause, you know, there’s only so much of robin to go around…  * plus I’m just.so.sleepy today…

Which, really, goes back to last week’s Front Porch Fellowship, To Become Like Him, and relationship,

BLOGWORDS – Tuesday 3 April 2018 – TUESDAY REVIEWS-DAY – BOOK REVIEW – UNFORGOTTEN by KRISTEN HEITZMANN

TUESDAY REVIEWS-DAY – BOOK REVIEW – UNFORGOTTEN by KRISTEN HEITZMANN

THE BLURB:

Lance Michelli had traveled to his grandmother Antonia’s old villa in Sonoma to find the truth behind the secrets of her past. There he met Rese Barrett, the woman who now owns the villa and hides secrets of her own. Now Lance has returned to his grandmother with both Rese and the answers he has found. But Antonia refuses to hear what he has to say. Has she really misunderstood the events of that dark night so long ago? Antonia sends Lance on another quest. But this time he discovers that the past has influenced the present far more than anyone realizes. Lance is caught between the two women he loves as he uncovers unforgotten truths that could change them all forever.

THE AUTHOR:

Kristen Heitzmann is the bestselling author of contemporary romantic suspense, psychological suspense, and historical novels, including Colorado Book Award finalist The Still of Night, Christy Award finalists Indivisible and The Tender Vine, and Christy Award winners Secrets and The Breath of Dawn that won both a Christy Award and Inspirational Readers Choice Award and was a finalist for a people’s choice award in the Netherlands. She is a fiction track and workshop teacher at writers conferences. An artist and musician, she’ll also be found hiking the Colorado Rocky Mountain trails near her home where she lives with her husband, pets, extended family, and wildlife.

MY REVIEW:

Mere words cannot convey the power and the impact of this story. Layer after layer of truth and humanity. Loyalty and betrayal, conflict and fear. Secrets and sacrifice. Love and victory.

I identified in a way, with Rese, denying herself love and attachment. And I really identified with Lance, feeling it was his burden to fix… everything… for everyone…

And yet, I grew angry and impatient with both of them for doing exactly that! I cried with them and laughed with them and, well, swooned for them.

Ms. Heitzmann may have just outdone herself with this story. Such powerful impact, so many threads woven together—it seems so impossible for to tie them all together. But Ms. Heitzmann not only does so, but does it so beautifully. Not only is there meaning and purpose in the seeming fragmented bits, but, as in life, they all overlap to create the whole.

A rich and deep and textured story that keeps me turning pages.

ROBIN’S FEATHERS:

ALL | THE | FEATHERS!

I purchased this book on Amazon. I offer my review of my own free will, and the opinions expressed in my review are my own honest thoughts and reaction to this book.

BLOGWORDS – Sunday 1 April 2018 – FRONT PORCH FELLOWSHIP – EASTER SUNDAY – TO BECOME LIKE HIM

FRONT PORCH FELLOWSHIP – EASTER SUNDAY – TO BECOME LIKE HIM

As Christians, we seem to compartmentalize this this thing we call faith. In December we revel in Christ’s birth, God becoming man. At Easter, we mourn His sacrifice, and rejoice He resurrection. And somewhere in between, we await His triumphant return.

My mind, though, as it is wont to do, picks it all apart like pieces of a jigsaw puzzle right out of the box. And as my mind is also wont to do—rather, as Holy Spirit takes my musings—I go back to the beginning. Genesis.

Which begs the question, “why?”

Why did Father God bother with creation at all? What was His purpose and motive? His intention?

One word.

Which begs the question, was God lonely? I don’t believe so, no, not at all. this just in… I believe that because He is love, and has so much love to give, He simply made more creatures to love, to pour His love into.

And, as nothing takes Him by surprise, He also knew His creation would let Him down, turn away from Him… betray Him. Even before creation, He knew all this would happen—but He did it anyway. Created us. And He had a plan to fix it.

Because He knew going in what would happen. Already one of His angels had turned away. And Father God knew that Lucifer would try to rob His creation from fellowship with Him. It looked quite successful, too, for a few millennia. But God is outside of time, and in the grand scope of things, it really wasn’t but a blink of His eye.

I almost pity Satan at that moment, thinking he had finally done it. Finally won, thinking he had defeated Christ. Thinking he had put our Savior to death—he didn’t of course. Christ offered Himself as the sacrifice to unite us with Father, once and for all time. Poor Satan was just the minion in Father’s hand to manifest it… to manifest His Glory.

See, I picture the Holy Trinity sitting up in heaven, on their bean bag chairs made of clouds, watching us down here, coaching us, laughing with us—or at us—weeping with us. Holy Spirit speaks to us, in us, through us.

It’s relationship, the good, the bad, and the ugly.

God is. Timeless… “who was, and is, and is to come…” He is outside of time, He is eternal.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWK4wbBCCPA

It’s all for us. Everything Father does, or thinks, or says, His very breath even—Holy Spirit—His heartbeat is for us. For fellowship.

And because He is, we are.
