Who knows the best way to show your love for your favorite authors? (I’m one, right? Your favorite?) Besides the obvious of buying and reading my books, leaving a review on Amazon tickles their calculations and formulas and moves my books up in their ranks, which in turn means more peeps see my books, which means more peeps are likely to buy them.

There are other things you can do, as well. Suggest my books to your library or book club. Tell your friends, buy gift copies to give to your friends. Heck, tell ME how much you love ‘em!

 

 

 

 

 

 

Robin’s Nest, Stories by Design

Writing first, blog second. That’s harsh, I know, but the blog supports the writing and if there’s no writing, then the blog is, well, a solo act. And while I love blogging, and welcoming readers and other authors, writing is my true love. I have guest posts lined up for January, and topics for the rest of the year. Interviews will reappear hopefully in March, possibly as early as February. Depends on how well Pearl and Simone (and myself) cooperate! That said, I have started on a new Rx and hope to see some improvement in how I feel on the day to day…

Coming in 2019

Yes, I’ve got my next series in mind, The Steppe House. A literary tribute to Frank Lloyd Wright, the Steppe House is fashioned after Mr. Wright’s Falling Water House. Built into a mountain side, each of seven (I think) levels houses a different family, ala condos, and each family has their own story. It’s set in the 1940’s, and there is a character named Francis Llewellyn Wiggins; Beyond that, I don’t know much about it at all.

Next summer, after Seasons wraps up and my surgery (see below), I plan to write a fun departure from deep dark secrets, One for the Price of Two. Twins Elizabeth and Meredith are so identical their parents can’t even tell them apart.

 

Facebook Live

There is no logical reason this should intimidate me so—I’m an actress for goodness sake! I’ve been on stage before a live audience, for crying out loud! Why, then, does the thought of going live, or even doing a video blog, make me so nervous? It just.don’t.make.no.sense. LOL

Nerves and intimidation aside, I will broach this new format this year, though not likely til summer. And I shall conquer it!

 

 

All in the Family

The “Knew Knee” Part II.  In February 2016 I had total knee replacement on my right knee. My poor knees were not formed right when I was born, and have always given me trouble. Two years ago, Ms. Rightie was finally done; the cartilage was so damaged and essentially gone, and I could barely walk. That surgery has been an OVERWHELMING success! And now it’s Leftie Lucy’s turn. Though not nearly as bad (Rightie always was way worse) Lucy’s cartilage is starting to deteriorate, making walking difficult and painful.

Surgery will be schedule after Seasons is wrapped up, likely in June. I have an appointment with my orthopedist (amazing doc!) this week, and hopefully will be able to set the date!! Watch out!! Once I have TWO.GOOD.KNEES I’mma be a walking and hiking fiend!!

 

 

Earlier this year, a friend suggested I start a GoFundMe campaign to get my license and a car, which I did. Got my license, but I still need that car…

Christ Born of Mary

And it came to pass in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be registered. ² This census first took place while Quirinius was governing Syria. ³ So all went to be registered, everyone to his own city. ⁴ Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and lineage of David, ⁵ to be registered with Mary, his betrothed wife, who was with child. ⁶ So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered. ⁷ And she brought forth her firstborn Son, and wrapped Him in swaddling cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

 

Glory in the Highest

⁸ Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. ⁹ And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. ¹⁰ Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. ¹¹ For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. ¹² And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.” ¹³ And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying:

 

¹⁴ “Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!”

 

¹⁵ So it was, when the angels had gone away from them into heaven, that the shepherds said to one another, “Let us now go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has come to pass, which the Lord has made known to us.” ¹⁶ And they came with haste and found Mary and Joseph, and the Babe lying in a manger. ¹⁷ Now when they had seen Him, they made widely known the saying which was told them concerning this Child. ¹⁸ And all those who heard it marveled at those things which were told them by the shepherds. ¹⁹ But Mary kept all these things and pondered them in her heart. ²⁰ Then the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told them.

BLOGWORDS – Sunday 17 December 2017 – FRONT PORCH FELLOWSHIP – WHY AM I STILL FIGHTING?

FRONT PORCH FELLOWSHIP – WHY AM I STILL FIGHTING?

 

“You’re nothing but a failure.”

 

The impact of those words was an awakening. A turning point. The words had never been spoken, not explicitly anyway, but I lived with that perception most of my life.

 

Holy Spirit, in the gentle manner that only He can do, has brought me through agony to know I am NOT a failure. He has shown me I’m a shining star.

 

So why do I still fight to be worthy? Why do I still yearn for promises He has already fulfilled? This is where I get really vulnerable—I want to be married. I want a husband, I don’t like being alone—I want to be loved and cherished. There’s so many things I need, and yes, want. And yet I “make the best” without, I get by “until…” My stove only half works and it’s been that way for over a year! Who.does.that??? Who lives like that?? I need a car. I need a new bed. I need… the list is long and it’s not extravagant. I want to travel, and that’s not unreasonable. I want to not be tired all the time. And that’s not unreasonable. And part of me feels like I have to “work harder” to deserve it.

 

SO.NOT.TRUE.

 

So what is a girl to do?

 

Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth! Psalm 46:10

 

So, rest then. No fighting. No striving. No begging or trying to convince God to do me some little favor.

 

God doesn’t do favors. He blesses. He gives from His own very nature, from the love that is his very essence.

 

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning. James 1:17

 

I don’t have to fight or strive to win or earn the good will of God. Lack is not His will. Loneliness is not His will. Failure is not His will.

 

He gave us the greatest gift of all in His Son. That doesn’t mean He’s done giving. That doesn’t mean that asking for the desire of our heart is ingratitude for the gift of salvation.

 

Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4

 

We walk in communion with Him, we walk in relationship with Him. We seek to please Him and honor Him. He gave the greatest gift when we didn’t even know Him…

 

But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8

 

… how much more will He pour upon us when we’re in fellowship with Him?

 

So why am I still fighting? Because this truth that I’ve just shared still hasn’t trickled all the way in my head. Because in the waiting, my mind veers off and listens to lies. Lies that tell me I have to “do better,” “try harder,” and push myself til i.just.can’t.

 

But lies are lies, and Truth is Truth. And the way to silence the lies of the enemy is with the Truth. And sometimes fellowship and the heart of those who love us.

 

SO TODAY, 17 DECEMBER 2017, I, ROBIN E. MASON, DECLARE I’M NOT FIGHTING ANYMORE. I DECLARE WHAT FATHER GOD DECLARES OVER ME, AND I SPEAK THE TRUTH OF HIS WORD. HIS WORD THAT SAYS HEALING IS MINE, HIS WORD THAT SAYS ABUNDANCE IS MINE. HIS WORD THAT SAYS HOPE DEFERRED MAKES THE HEART SICK—AND HIS WORD THAT SAYS HE IS MY HOPE.

 

I’m done fighting. I’m resting. And I’m letting go and leaving it in Father’s hands.

MY THOUGHTS:  

I’ve a new found fascination with Japanese culture, and combined with my love of historical fiction, this story is a winner. The writing seems a little weak in places but not so much to put it down.
