THE BLURB:
A delightful Christmas romance about finding the perfect recipe for love.
After years of mistakes and regret, Colin Renwycke finally has a plan: Hone his baking talent at the Denver Culinary Institute and embark on a new career as a pastry chef. If he’s lucky, he might even manage to earn back his family’s respect. But despite his skills in the kitchen, Colin’s a mess in the classroom and his ongoing disasters are proving too much for his prickly instructor. If he loses his spot at the school, he’s out of backup plans.
Culinary school instructor Rylan Jefferson has the chance to reclaim her dream of running her own bakery. But she only has until Christmas Eve to come up with the perfect recipe to impress an eccentric investor. She has no time for holiday parties or family plans . . . and especially not for the unruly student baker who couldn’t follow a recipe if his life depended on it.
But Colin has the one ingredient Rylan needs most—talent. Lots of it. And when he makes a proposal that just might solve both their problems, Rylan can’t say no—even if it does mean traveling all the way to Iowa. It just might be that the snow-covered plains and a charming small town full of postcard Christmas cheer are exactly what her hungry heart needs . . . along with a man who is much more than he seems.
THE FIRST LINE:
If Rylan Jefferson was lucky, after tonight she’d never have to see Colin Renwycke again.
MY THOUGHTS:
Love it. Hands down. Ms. Tagg has become my new favorite author—well, she’s in good company anyway. She had a skill with words that supersedes most I’v read, and she crafts a well-told story.
STARS:
Five stars, definitely five stars.

I have never read any of Melissa’s books, but I really should. So many people love her stories. My curiosity has definitely been sparked, well, more than sparked. 🙂 Happy New Year.
Hullo Kathy, and Happy New Year! This was my first time reading one of Melissa’s books – and she instantly made my favourite author list!! I dare say any of her books won’t disappoint!
[…] Robin’s Nest […]
Welcome to First Line Fridays! 🙂 I have this book on my Kindle, and I still need to read it–so many books, so little time. 🙂
Here is my first line:
Waves of Mercy
by Lynn Austin
Lake Michigan
1897
“I am living my nightmare. A violent storm has overtaken our steamship, and as we mount high on the crest of a wave one moment, then plunge sickeningly into a watery trough the next, I am certain we are about to sink.”
Happy reading and Happy New Year!
Oh my goodness!!! Now THAT’S a first line!! Hullo Heather, and welcome to my little nest! thanks so much for sharing!
Great choice, Robin! I love Melissa Tagg!!! I have this book on my Kindle but I haven’t had time to get to it yet, the one she wrote last year was really good!
I’m currently reading Seven Brides for Seven Texans collection from Barbour. Here’s the first line of the novella I just started last night, A Love Returned by Keli Gwyn.
Twelve years was a long time to wait for a tamale.
That must be some good tamale!! hahahah Hullo Beth Erin, thanks for visiting my little nest!
My pleasure! Great to have you join us for First Line Friday fun!
This week mine is from “Charles Brandon: The King’s Man” by Sarah Bryson.
“Charles Brandon was an enigmatic, charismatic man, rising from mere boyhood friend of a future king to flirting with a European duchess, marrying the Dowager Queen of France, being created the Duke of Suffolk, and not to mention becoming the leading magnate in Lincolnshire by the end of his life.”
Happy Reading!
Talk about an identity crisis! “… Which title shall I wear today??” LOL Thanks for sharing, Sarah!
I love Melissa Tagg! Like Beth Erin, I also have this one on my Kindle.
My world shattered last winter. A hairline crack formed, and my life perched on the edge of an abyss, set to topple at the slightest breeze. But instead of a breeze, I got a whirlwind…in the form of a positive pregnancy test. Justified by Varina Denman
