BLOG BLITZ – Friday 9 September 2016 – FAMOUS TWINS
The month of September is a special time for me:
my THIRD novel and sequel to
the final in the unsavory heritage series,
will be available 30 on September Amazon
In keeping with my twin theme, I thought I mention a few famous twins. The list I found was astoundingly long. Some I knew, the Olsen Twins and the Sprouse Twins, and Tia and Tamara Mowry. You can tell I’ve watched TV with my kids and grandgirls, can’t you!
Can’t forget some of the not-so-young sets. Don’t the San Francisco Twins, Vivian and Marian, look like fun? I’ll bet they were a hoot to hang out with!
Here’s some fellas for the sports fans. (Thanks Denise Williams for the tip!)
Not all famous twins are positive role models.
“Eventually, a Scotland Yard conference decided to arrest the Krays on the evidence already collected, in the hope that other witnesses would be forthcoming once the Krays were in custody. On 8 May 1968, the Krays and 15 other members of their “firm” were arrested. Many witnesses came forward now that the Krays’ reign of intimidation was over, and it was relatively easy to gain a conviction. The Krays and 14 others were convicted, with one member of the Firm being acquitted. One of the firm members who was arrested for a short period provided a lot of the information to the police.
“The twins’ defence under their counsel John Platts-Mills, QC consisted of flat denials of all charges and discrediting witnesses by pointing out their criminal past. Justice Melford Stevenson said: “In my view, society has earned a rest from your activities.” Both were sentenced to life imprisonment, with a non-parole period of 30 years for the murders of Cornell and McVitie, the longest sentences ever passed at the Old Bailey (Central Criminal Court, London) for murder. Their brother Charlie was imprisoned for 10 years for his part in the murders.” [taken from Wikipedia]
Enough of that. Here are some more entertaining twinsets.
In my story, Cissy is a twin. She and Clara are so much alike, their parents can’t tell them apart, except in their aptitude and activities. Although, Cissy does not give birth to twin daughters, she does birth the uncanny heritage that continues for generations. There are no twins for 150 years. And all of the women in this heritage carry the same traits, both physical and behavioral.
I include—for kicks and giggles—a photo of baby me, twinned. Aren’t I adorable??? Don’t you think I should have been a twin???
Do you have twins in your family? Who are some other famous twins you can think of? Comment below. I’d—we’d—love to hear from you!

I have been writing since 1995, and began working in earnest on my debut novel, Tessa in 2013. Meanwhile, I cranked out a few dozen poems, and made countless notes for story ideas. I lived with depression for many years, and the inherent feelings of worthlessness and invisibility; I didn’t want to be who I was and struggled with my own identity for many years. My characters face many of these same demons.
I write stories of identity conflict. My characters encounter situations that force the question, “Who am I, really?” For all who have ever wondered who you are or why you’re here, my stories will touch you in a very real—maybe too real—and a very deep way. I know, I write from experience.
Tessa and Clara Bess are available on Amazon, both for Kindle and in print, with the third book in the series, Cissy, coming out in September of this year. I also have several poems included in an anthology, Where Dreams and Visions Live (Anthologies of the Heart Book 1) by Mary Blowers, http://maryblowers.com, as well as a short story, Sarafina’s Light, also in an anthology, Blood Moon, compiled by Mary Blowers. I will also be working on a personal compilation of poetry to be released in 2016 as well.
