BLOG BLITZ – Sunday 4 September 2016 – FRONT PORCH FELLOWSHIP – WORDS
The month of September is a special time for me:
my THIRD novel and sequel to
the final in the unsavory heritage series,
FRONT PORCH FELLOWSHIP
I’ve always been a word person. I attended a liturgical church when I was a teen and young adult, and the words of the service, especially the Nicene Creed, spoke deeply to my heart and spirit.
I blogged about the creative power of words a couple of weeks ago. I also referenced what negative words will do. This is why it’s so vital to have God’s Word secure in our hearts,
But when Father’s Word doesn’t dwell in our hearts, faith words cannot come out. I’ve heard well meaning, born-again Christian people speak words of doubt and fear, doom and gloom. Faith does not allow for that. And I’m not pointing judgmental fingers at anyone; I have lived it, and I have spoken it. Words of doubt, words of discouragement, words that held me captive instead of setting me free.
Faith comes by hearing. And hearing, and hearing. Like an actor learning his lines, until he is immersed in the role he is playing, rehearsing the script, speaking it over and again; rinse, lather, repeat. I heard years ago that the mind listens to our own voice above all others. That’s why is so vital to know the Truth, to come against evil when it is spoken against us.
Because they will come, words to destroy you. The enemy will see to that.
And that’s what happened to Cissy. An innocent little girl, not yet five years old, heard words condemning her. And not knowing to fight against it, not being equipped to fight against it, she didn’t. She lived it out. She believed the lie.
Cissy is a fictional story, with fictional people and fictional scenarios. Well, fictional specifics. But the principle remains. Evil words will come against us as fiery arrows of the enemy, and without our armor, the Word of God, we cannot stand against the onslaught.
This is why I write my stories, this is why Father has taught me the weight of our words, for good or evil. To teach and share what I have learned. To set the captive free as surely as He has set me free.
Freely has the Word been given unto me, freely I give.
